The Italian song Santa Lucia has been sung by many great artists. For example by Caruso and Elvis Presley. That song is about an Italian fishing boat outside the coastof Naple. In Sweden we sing the same melody but the text is about the Saint Lucia who was a martyre living in Sicily 200 BC.

Il testo svedesi di “Santa Lucia” è circa il martire Santa Lucia in Sicilia.Non così con il testo italianska. La mattina del 13 dicembre, Lucia con le candele in suoi capelli serve caffè e dolci.

Den Svenska Luciasången har bara melodin gemensam med den Italienska som har sjungits av både Caruso och Elvis Presley. Den Italienska texten (som står här nedan )handlar om en fiskebåt på havet utanför Neapel. Ingen koppling alls således till helgonet Lucia som har inspirerat till den Svenska versionen.
